OUR COSMETIC STANDARD
At Michael Difazio Reclaim Artistry Inc, we take great pride in each and every unique piece of solid furniture we sell. Our furniture is handcrafted and professionally finished by our team and built using solid wood that is distressed and has a reclaimed look.
Given the handmade and hand-finished nature of the products we craft, variations and imperfections in the wood should be expected and celebrated! Just as every tree is unique, so too is every piece of furniture that is handcrafted and hand finished just for you.
Original character marks such as dents, nail holes, cracks etc may be present in the finished product to preserve the history and story of the materials.
The wood we use is a living material that expands and contracts with seasonal changes. The natural process of expansion and contraction can create open joints in the construction and in the material itself. An open joint line related to expansion or contraction will not affect the structural integrity of the project.
It is highly recommended that the temperature and humidity in your environment is controlled to prevent fluctuations that may cause wood to crack. Any excess moisture should be wiped off from surfaces as soon as possible.
Please read through our cosmetic standards below before placing an order with us.

WOOD & STAIN VARIATIONS
Every piece of furniture will have a unique grain pattern and slight colour variation as a result of the grain pattern. We cannot guarantee exact stain matches to other tables we've done in the past. Wood has a mind of its own and every piece of wood accepts stain differently. We cannot control it. We will use the correct stain or paint colour that you requested for your order, but there is a chance the colour will vary slightly from the table or picture you were thinking of when you placed the order. This is normal. We cannot rework the finishing on your table to get a perfect match.
-
MATCHING STAIN COLORS
We do not match stain colors based on photos. If you’d like a custom stain, you must supply the stain to us (we will guide you through this process). Every wood species absorbs stain differently, and even boards of the same type can vary in grain, tone, and texture — which means the final colour will never be exactly the same from piece to piece.
Once we apply your provided stain on your chosen wood, we're doing precisely what you’ve asked us to do. However, we cannot rework or redo the finish if the result isn’t what you pictured. That’s the nature of working with real wood: it's unique, it’s natural, and it varies. Lets celebrate this over viewing it as a defect!
You might be wondering, “Why can’t you get a perfect match like I see in big box stores?” The short answer: many are not using real wood. Some mass-produced furniture uses engineered materials like laminate or veneer, designed to look uniform and flawless. Our pieces are handmade from solid wood — and that’s part of what makes them one-of-a-kind.
Even lighting affects how a finish appears. A warm bulb vs. cool daylight can make the same colour look completely different. While we aim for consistency and high-quality finishing, perfect colour matching is not a guarantee.
If you'd like your project to be restained after you’ve approved the colour sample, we can absolutely do that — but please note: additional labor, materials, and shipping will be billed accordingly.

WOOD MOVEMENT
Solid wood expands and contracts due to changes in temperature and humidity. This is normal and expected. Such movement may cause the gaps between the boards of a seamed tabletop to widen over time. This natural movement does not affect the structural integrity and is not considered defective. It truly enhances the one-of-a-kind beauty and character of handcrafted solid-wood furniture.
-
GENERAL VARIATIONS IN FURNITURE
Other characteristics of handcrafted, solid wood furniture include open knots, visible brush strokes, micro-imperfections and textural variations in the durable, hand brushed finishes, unique distress marks, exposed screws, wood filler marks, joint lines, and distinctive nicks, splits, cracks, and other imperfections. We allow up to approximately 1" of variation across all measurements due to the custom nature of the handcrafted furniture we build.
Those who do not appreciate variations and imperfections should not purchase handcrafted furniture.
Solid wood may expand and contract due to changes in temperature and humidity. This means that the gaps between the boards of a traditional table top may get wider over time and will need to be cleaned. This natural movement enhances the one of a kind beauty of solid wood, handcrafted furniture. It does not affect structural integrity and is not considered defective.
You will still see the beautiful and natural open knots on jointed table tops. We do not offer machine manufactured perfection - no two pieces are exactly alike since our furniture is crafted to your order specifications.
We celebrate the true uniqueness of every piece of solid wood furniture that is built and finished by hand in our wood shop. It is our hope that you will as well.

LEAD TIMES
With your order you were given a lead time. With over 50+ orders in our queue at any given time, lead times are PURELY ESTIMATES. We have been known to get orders complete and to customers before the estimated lead time given and there have also been issues that have happened in production that delayed orders beyond lead times. The lead time that we have given you is our best guess at when you will get your project. It's better to get it a few weeks later than quoted and it be up to quality standards since you plan to have it for years to come, then it is to get it on time and it fails quality standards. We cannot guarantee a specific delivery date. Please know this if you're placing an order with us in hopes of getting it for a special occasion such as a party, birthday, holiday, etc... We will always do our best to accommodate, but we cannot guarantee anything in terms of delivery date. Please understand this before placing an order with us.

INSTALLATION
Michael Difazio Reclaim Artistry now offers installation as an optional add-on, but it will always be billed as a separate line item. You're welcome to arrange your own installer if you prefer — whether that's a contractor you trust, someone you know personally, or even yourself if you're handy.
If you’d rather have another contractor do your installation, we’re happy to refer independent installers we’ve worked with in the past, we don’t earn any commission, markup, or income from their work. The installation would be entirely between you and the installer you choose.
If your project requires cutting on-site or modifications to fit your space, that is the responsibility of the installer, not our shop.
For projects that include delivery and arrive in multiple pieces, we will assemble the item on-site as part of our delivery service.
Once your project is delivered and/or assembled, our portion of the job is considered complete, and final payment will be due.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Depending on the type of finish we apply to your furniture, there may be specific methods you need to follow in order to protect, clean, and maintain the finish. This is normal with any type of furniture. No matter the type of finish, surfaces get scuffed, scratched, and dirty. Wood can also dry out.
When you receive your furniture, we'll provide you with resources that explain how to care for your new piece. Please adhere to those recommendations. If you do not provide the proper care or you clean the furniture with improper cleaning materials, you may experience faster wear and tear. We cannot be held responsible for damages due to improper maintenance.
